At Lanett City Schools, we believe that understanding our history paves the way for our future. Today, we are proud to highlight the incredible African American educator and visionary who fought for equality and excellence in the classroom, Booker T. Washington.
As the first leader of Tuskegee Institute right here in Alabama, his focus on vocational training and self-reliance continues to influence how we approach education today. He didn’t just manage the school; he built it from the ground up—literally. Booker T. Washington also partnered with Julius Rosenwald to construct over 5,000 schools, shops, and teacher homes for African American children across the south.

Our Valentine festivities kicked off last Friday with our fabulous Sneaker Ball! 👟🎉

Our upper-grade students showed up dressed to impress, rocking their stylish outfits and showing off their best kicks on the dance floor! From sharp suits to dazzling dresses, the energy was high and the smiles were even brighter. 💃🕺

What an amazing way to start the season of love and friendship!

¡Nuestras celebraciones de San Valentín comenzaron el viernes pasado con nuestro increíble Sneaker Ball! 👟🎉

Lanett City Schools will observe President's Day on Monday, February 16, 2026. All campuses will be closed except for W.O. Lance Elementary.

Don't forget that Monday, February 16th, is a scheduled make-up day for all students and staff at W.O. Lance Elementary.

Attendance will follow the regular daily schedule, and all bus transportation will operate on its normal routes. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a smooth and productive school day!

Progress reports are being sent home today!

School Counselors help students in more ways than you may know. This week we celebrate them as a part of National School Counseling Week 2026. Thank you to Ms. Odom (Lanett High School), Mrs. Newill (Lanett Junior High), and Mr. Dunn (W. O. Lance Elementary) for everything you do
