YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH Healthy Tips… Lose 10 pounds a year, reduce eating 100 calories per day It takes 30 minutes before you know that you're full, so slow down when you eat and stop when you are full Drink more water, reduce sugary drinks Eat more fresh fruits and veggies—half your plate Move more - Take 30 minutes for brisk walking, dance while cleaning, take the stairs, ride a bike, park car further away etc. Recipe of the Month Turkey Chili Serve with cornbread and salad for a hearty meal. INGREDIENTS nonstick cooking spray 1 pound lean ground turkey 1 medium onion, chopped 1 green bell pepper, chopped 1 (28-ounce) can whole tomatoes 2 (14½-ounce) cans kidney or pinto beans, drained and rinsed 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce 1 package chili seasoning 2 teaspoons ground black pepper PREPARATION Spray a large skillet with nonstick cooking spray and heat over medium-high heat. Our team dove deep into RCA’s legendary House System—learning dynamic strategies to boost school culture, foster student engagement, build meaningful relationships, and cultivate character across our entire school community.

From experiencing the high-energy house reveals to learning best practices for point tracking, house meetings, and student leadership, our educators returned re-energized and full of innovative ideas to bring back to our classrooms.

We can’t wait to share this excitement and see the positive impact of the House System in our schools!

It’s a great day to be a Panther! The Child Nutrition Department is excited to announce new
scratch-based recipes this year. We are committed to providing healthy, delicious meals every meal,
every day to our students! We are also introducing more fresh produce and fruit through the Fresh
Fruit and Vegetable Program at W.O. Lance Elementary School this year. Fresh salads are also
offered weekly on the menu and are made from romaine lettuce grown from a local Alabama farmer.

A few new scratch-based recipes that were added to our program this year:
 Homemade buttermilk pancakes
 Banana Split Breakfast Parfait
 Homemade marinara sauce for Italian dishes
 Homemade Lasagna
 Chicken Parmesan
 Chicken Philly Sub
 Roast Beef with Potatoes and Carrots
 Teriyaki Chicken and Rice Bowls with Stir-Fry Vegetables
 Chicken and Spinach Quesadillas

The Child Nutrition Program (CNP) staff works tirelessly every day to produce large quantities of
meals twice a day for our students. The CNP staff puts forth great effort to prepare meals in a short
period of time while adding love in every bite just to make our students happy in their home away
from home. We want our students to enjoy their food while providing essential nutrients for healthy
minds and bodies for grow.

The Child Nutrition Program served 6,860 breakfasts and 14,225 lunches in the month of August
alone. The Child Nutrition Program is striving for 100 percent student participation for both breakfast
and lunch. It’s a Great Day to be a CNP Panther!
